World Tournament XXVI Zell am See

Europe’s largest ice hockey tournament for junior teams

The biggest winter sports event of the region

since 25 years …………

(red) Bulls, Bears, Polar Bears and Sharks meet on the ice….

Friday, 13.04.2017 – until Sunday, 23.04.2017

The tournament is organized – just like the past 25 years –
by the Salzburger Ice Hockey Federation and hockeyworld.

Approximately 1000 young athletes will use the ice surface in the Zeller ice rink for an international comparison in the time between Good Friday (Karfreitag) and the Sunday after Easter. Over the last years the tournament has developed into Europe’s leading ice hockey tournament for junior teams. The special date, the opportunity for an international comparison, the event location, the organization, as well as the years of experience of the organizing team are the key success factors of this tournament.

There will also be a team from Toronto participating in the tournament with an old acquaintance as their coach (Frank Carnevale, known from ‘Alpenliga’ times with EK Zell). Other well-known teams are Kranj, Bled, the Hockey Bears from Finland, the Sharks from Cologne and Innsbruck, the Polar Bears from Berlin and Zell, Kiev from the Ukraine, Team England and, after a long absence, a Team from Poland.

Despite the late Easter-date and already finished championships, the interest in our event was high and we had to reject more than 90 applications.

144 games in 10 days are a challenging program – 48 teams from 14 Nations in 3 age groups (U11 – U13 – U15) will be welcomed to the tournament in Zell.

Preparations have been going on since Fall of last year and are now on the home stretch with confirming the participants.

Atos (a worldwide operating IT Provider) is supporting the event again, along with many others.

The organizers want to thank everyone, who contributed to the development of this event for the past 25 years.
